Ok, so I found a hole in a favorite sweater (storebought, I didn't make it). hmm. Looked closely but couldn't see anything of moth-like persuasion. Anyone know what that looks like? The sweater was washed and new holes have appeared. ok, now I need some advice. I like the wool and could frog it, reknit it and felt it. Or could felt the sweater intact and cut out pieces to make a bag or something. Any suggestions?
Suggestions on how to make sure there are no more moths about if that is what happened?

We (hubby and I) have been up to Parkerville today for my niece's 3rd birthday party. It was at my SIL's parents place. They have 5 Alpaca's, 1 long haired goat and lots of chickens. The chickens had laid 3 eggs, there were 3 eagle's flying above and my nephew fell over 3 times. It was a good day for a 3rd birthday.

Oh and tomorrow, I'm being taken to a spinning group!!!!!!!! So I can finally use Clem's wheel.

As I'm about to leave this construction industry caper, I need to milk it for all it's worth in the meantime.

So when one of the purchasing blokes walked past a few minutes ago, I asked 'So if I wanted to get some tig welding rods, how would I go about it?' He was curious about my new interest in tig welding... until I explained that they are the perfect thing for lace blocking. His wife is a knitter and they are both impressed that I am too.

He then contacted a supplier who he is going to see on Thursday anyway. All I need to do is give them the lengths I want and they'll run them straight out of the machine for me. Fantastic since the blocking wires I've seen online are $$exy.

I keep seeing beautiful yarn that I want to put in my sweater. I'm obsessed with this sweater now....every gorgeous colored, soft yarn is going into it. I only hope it fits me, I hate to frog and start over. But start over I would.

Kmart Bargain and EBTKS

Hi all,
I think I scored the biggest bargain ever. A ball of Paton's Jet for 5 cents. yes, 5 cents. Light blue, brought it up to counter. Is this correct? Yup. Cool.

Am embarking upon the Everything but the Kitchen Sink sweater from Yarnplay. If anyone has any 10-12ply (worsted) remnants in black or jeweltones that you want to get rid of, I'll take it. If you think that it can make one round in this sweater, 180stitches on 5mm that would be fabulous. I am only using natural fibers in this jumper, unless the yarn is a wool/acrylic blend or something. I am repurposing the beautiful blue Jo Sharp silk aran that I purchased on the yarn train (Yarns on Collie) as the base color for it.

Also, I noticed that Panda has a yarn with similar colors to some of the multicolored Jet. The Panda yarn starts with a C, and it is acrylic I believe.

I've just discovered The Book Depository. Based in the UK, with cheaper than retail prices, no postage charge and fast delivery. It works out cheaper than retail prices here in most cases (I guess no GST makes a difference too)

I've been saving a list to go through at some stage, using the fantastic Ravelry to work out whether it's worth buying a book or not.

Hi all,
after the happy collection of the knitpicks order, I was gifted with a huge bag of seemingly discontinued yarns.
One of them was Sirdar's Kid Mohair in a pretty grey blue. Enough to make a jumper. anyone have any suggestions? the gauge is 23.5sts/10cm. Is that DK, 8ply or sport? or all 3? Any and all suggestions for knitting with mohair will be taken.

also, I was given a large amount of white cotton yarn. Would anyone be willing to knit little patrick a small white cotton jacket or cardigan out of this? For his baptism? I will pay for your time and effort. You would have a month and a half. I know that I would be unable to finish it.

If you're unsure about moo cards, they are quite a funny size, so a nice modelling shot of your favourite jumper might not fit on so well. I must be insane. I suggested to Ethan's year1 teacher that I could come in and teach the kids to knit sometime. I figure they could make needles out of dowels, pencil sharpeners and that clay that you cook hard.

Yarn Train leaving platform 1 in 1 minute RUN…

So for those of you that weren’t there we had a lovely day (although some of us are a little pinker now than we were when we got up yesterday) on yesterdays Yarn Train Extravaganza! We met at Brew-Ha in Subiaco from 10am and sat around knitting/crocheting drinking hot and cold drinks until about 11ish when we packed up and wandered over to Crossways Wool and Fabrics. (Lupinbunny taught me how to make the cool links!) I have to put my hand up here and say I think I spent the most here, I bought the yarn for my Noni Felted Bag which you can see here, I'm doing it in 2 shades of purple.

(this was unimpressed little Patrick trying on the booties Vicki had made)

Once we had all finished here we meandered down to the Subiaco train station where we did very nearly miss the train. We amused some of the people on board when we stood and knitted. At Mossman Park we found Calico & Ivy, which rumor has it has found a buyer. Lupinbunny was the big spender here… I’ll let her tell you what she got, which I may or may not have persuaded her to buy *innocent face*.

We then did miss the train to Fremantle at Mossy Park because the stupid SmartRider Tag on thingo is right up the other end of the station to the stairs. So while trying to help Michelle and Patrick up onto the station and swipe us all on the train came and went. So we sat down and knit/crochet some more.

When we finally got on the train it was too full to knit any more so we chatted about our purchases and acted like school girls, which was fun! Lupinbunny saw an old friend who informs us his mum will be opening a new quilting store up near the Galleria in Morley in about April 08. I believe it will be called Quintessential Quilts and will have a website.

Lunch was lovely, we went to the Mill Bakehouse in Fremantle (which for those of us not in the know has moved to across the road from the Italian Club). We sat, chatted, knitted/crocheted some more.

Then we wandered back to Yarns on Collie. WOW! I hadn’t been here before, I was a very good girl and didn’t buy toooooooooo much, but then how much is too much anyway? It’s all relative right?!?! They stock Bilby Yarn products, roving and yarn! So of course I had to have some of that.

I think that Sandy was the big spender here, she came in just to get a couple of balls, I think to finish a project. She left with enough to make at least 2 adult jumpers and some other bit’s and pieces including the things originally on the list.

Oh and this is their front window at the moment.

After the final credit card work out (although it was 20% off all full priced yarns!) those of us not already on deadlines to be elsewhere went in search of a shady place to have a drink. The Sail & Anchor won and we sat up on the balcony.

Question, how do you freak out the freaky? Answer, Pull out your knitting at a Sunday Session!

Then we jumped back on the train, got seats! Pulled out our knitting/crocheting and made our way home with lighter purses and heavier bags (no idea how that happened Helen!)

Yay! My cotton order has arrived at work today! The Pakucho cotton is lovely, soft and a little bit shiny, although it looks like it will be very splitty.

I'm going to make a baby kimono out of it, and it has to be done, blocked and gifted by 10.30am next Sunday. I really wish I'd brought some needles to work so I could start swatching in my lunchbreak.

It's for Andy's cousin who is pregnant with her first. She's having a baby shower (that sounds so american!) next Sunday, so of course I've decided to knit something at the last minute.

It's a baby kimono though right, I should be able to do it quickly shouldn't I?

oh, am I laughing.

Brian and I joined a Tea and Health Study at Royal Perth Hospital. However the study has not gotten enough volunteers. Today Tonight agreed to do a segment on the study to give it some advertisement for more volunteers. The researchers called Brian up to ask if he would agree to be interviewed for the piece, and me also. Brian said yes, and they interviewed him this morning at Royal Perth. He told them I couldn't come in to be interviewed. they said they would come to me. and so they did. I brought out my good china (Bridgewater), made tea, was interviewed and Ethan was filmed eating biscuits and drinking tea out of his own cup.
The segment will be broadcast as early as the end of this week, or next week.
So keep an eye out on Channel 7 and laugh as I make a fool of myself.
I tried to get knitting into the segment, but strangely they wouldn't have it.

FO: Baby elfin hat and grinch feet

So last night at Stitch N Bitch I sewed up the hat. Came right home and tried them on a cranky Patrick. Yes, he was not impressed. The hat just fits, it will not fit him by the time it gets cold out. Oh well. I'll have to make him another hat for the cold weather and will donate this hat and booties to a winter newborn baby.

Cat in the doghouse

See this cute kitten? This is Lilwen, the latest addition to our feline family. She's got loads of energy, loves to play, and we've had stacks of fun since she came home. HOWEVER, this morning I got up to find my partially done chevron scarf pulled out of my knitting bag, needle half pulled out, and the yarn wrapped around the sofa, tangled in the various things near the sofa.

Methinks next time I need to wind a ball I'll visit lupinbunny and use her winder, at least then I'll have a yarncake instead of a tempting large ball that can be rolled everywhere!

She's too cute to be angry at though.

dyeing cotton shop twine

Hi all,
Went to Bunnings to pick up some flowers and some cotton shop twice to crochet into baskets. Suggestions as to stuff around the house I can dye this string with? I won't be washing it, so I'm not worried about it bleeding. do you think food color would work? or would i simply get it all over my hands whenever handling the basket?

This is kinda for Clem since she wasn't there on Monday night (owing to her living on the other side of the country now). My sister-in-law's mum is going to teach me to spin! She has sheep and alpacas and is going to teach me with her sheep's fleece from last year. I'm very excited!
