So, it's my new ambition to knit
Intolerable Cruelty before Christmas.
I started it last Thursday, and set myself a goal of 1" per day, which should leave me with at least a few days to spare. It's just unfortunate that my life somehow went a bit crazy recently, and I haven't done any knitting at all this week, apart from at Stitch'n'Bitch.
It's also quite amazing how often I can stuff up plain stockinette in the round! I blame the bamboo yarn, actually— even on bamboo needles, it's extremely slippery, and I think I spend half the time counting, re-counting and picking up stitches. And then I count again, just for luck. Then I realise that I am still out, and the process starts again.
It may also have something to do with the DVDs I am watching while attempting to knit.
Tipping the Velvet sucks me in every time, even though I've seen it so many times. But it's the perfect thing to watch while knitting a corsetry-inspired skirt!
So I have stocked up on very crap DVDs (with ugly people in them! or at least, nothing with Scarlett Johansson, Piper Perabo, Ewan MacGregor or Jonathon Rhys Meyers) and am planning on a one-woman knitter's retreat this weekend. I will do nothing but knit. It will be f-a-n-t-a-s-t-i-c!
PS— just realised that four out of the six movies I plan to watch have Hugh Grant in them. This is slightly disturbing. What does that say about me?!
