Unruffled

I have just 3" of ruffle to go on Intolerable Cruelty. Oh, and then all the crochet-y corset-y bits, but they should take long, right?

I'm actually surprised by how quickly this knits up— I started it 2.5 weeks ago, and I haven't put in anywhere near as much knitting time as I normally do, due to various work/family/Santa/hairball-related activities.

It's the perfect relaxing knit... can't wait to try it on! I haven't been able to find out if anyone else has finished it already, but am assuming they have. Still, it's a nice daydream to think I'd be the first!

Halfway Home

I'm half way through Intolerable Cruelty ... I have 12" to go, so in theory, it shouldn't be a problem to get it done before Christmas. But I have hit a few problems...

1) Looking at my calendar, I'm going to be very, very busy until at least New Years. More time recovering from hang overs = less time for knitting!

2) I am running out of yarn, and am not sure when I'll be able to get to the LYS and pick up the rest of my yarn bank. (I know, I know, this'd be easier if I could drive! Aaagh!)

3) I have seen every Hugh Grant movie! Seriously, I have watched every.single.one that you can get on video or DVD. Blockbuster can't help me, VideoEzy can't help me, even Planet Video is no good. What do I do??? I need help, people. I mean, apart from the obvious "needing help for weird Hugh Grant obsession", I also need help finding more suitable videos! Any suggestions?

I am determined to get this sucker finished!

Intolerable deadlines

So, it's my new ambition to knit Intolerable Cruelty before Christmas.

I started it last Thursday, and set myself a goal of 1" per day, which should leave me with at least a few days to spare. It's just unfortunate that my life somehow went a bit crazy recently, and I haven't done any knitting at all this week, apart from at Stitch'n'Bitch.

It's also quite amazing how often I can stuff up plain stockinette in the round! I blame the bamboo yarn, actually— even on bamboo needles, it's extremely slippery, and I think I spend half the time counting, re-counting and picking up stitches. And then I count again, just for luck. Then I realise that I am still out, and the process starts again.

It may also have something to do with the DVDs I am watching while attempting to knit. Tipping the Velvet sucks me in every time, even though I've seen it so many times. But it's the perfect thing to watch while knitting a corsetry-inspired skirt!

So I have stocked up on very crap DVDs (with ugly people in them! or at least, nothing with Scarlett Johansson, Piper Perabo, Ewan MacGregor or Jonathon Rhys Meyers) and am planning on a one-woman knitter's retreat this weekend. I will do nothing but knit. It will be f-a-n-t-a-s-t-i-c!

PS— just realised that four out of the six movies I plan to watch have Hugh Grant in them. This is slightly disturbing. What does that say about me?!
