FO - 'Topi'

I made 'Topi' from the Spring 06 Knitty this week & love it!

It's knit on 4.5mm dpns, then circular needles (4.5mm and 3.75mm). I substituted 4mm for the latter as don't own 3.75mm ones. Apparently you can knit it with almost any yarn as gauge is not really that important (sounds like the perfect project..). I used Jo Sharp DK in 'teal'.

It ain't perfect, but it's my first ever hat that isn't a beanie so I figure I can see past the uneven garter stitch jog and the puckered sections at the sides of the brim that are supposed to resemble short shaping rows.

ps - Very jealous of everyones yarn purchases!

Silly Husband

Well ladies guess what arrived today from the US!!!! Yes thats right our KnitPicks order arrived at my hubbies work. He called me to tell me he had it this morning. So, all excited, I made sure I caught the early bus home from work so I could come home and fondle all the nice yarn before taking it over to Spider_Kint's place.

I get home and guess what, he left the box on his desk at work *sigh* so now I have to wait until tomorrow to fondle and deliver the yarn.

Hopefully he wont forget it again and we can all have yarny goodness on Monday night!!!!!!!

Look What I've Been Given!!!

I feel v.lucky.. A client of ours is having her aircraft painted that she built (I work for my family business, we spraypaint aircraft) and we got to talking and turned out she owns alpacas and does a lot of felting & knitting etc!! Anyhoo, she has a friend who gets the yarn spun over in Vic and gave me this suri alpaca yarn you see in the pic! What to do with it?? There's only 3 skeins.. and it doesn't say anything about metreage.. but I just had to share :)

I have completed the back of my jo sharp pink cardigan and will start the left & right fronts this evening.. I'm determined to finish it!! I've also almost completed the back of this jumper (below) from Rowan Studio #1... so fast to knit up... I'm using that el-cheapo grey acrylic/mohair Patons Caressa I got in Dunsborough...it's not the best, but I got the perfect gauge with it and just wanted to use it up.. if the jumper fits good I'll make it again in the kidsilk haze ..only requires 6 balls and that's with 2 strands held together! So really only the 3 balls for a whole jumper!!

FYI. At Crossways they have a heap of yarn from tassie out the back that isn't even on the shelves yet!! The lady there told me they'd love to see it gone! So what you waitin' for, get in there! It's lovely soft yarn, and they have mohair too.. I bought 9 hanks in rich green !! They're a good price at $6.50ea or so..Jeez I sound like Crossways' wool pimp!!

i feel sick

i went to sew the sleeves into the armholes of anatolia. and i've discovered what is either a
a) my misreading the pattern twice (front and back; or both sleeves); or
b) a massive mistake inthe pattern.

either way, i feel sick. i have a choice between some half-arsed solution, or ripping out about four inches of the front and the back...

details and evidence on monday.

Lamb's Pride on sale

http://www.yarnsonline.com.au/category21_1.htm

this is good stuff. great colors and quality
Michelle

Must knit a cardigan, must knit a cardigan.

I'm still on my search for the perfect cardigan pattern. I like Serrano from Knitty, but definately don't like the hook and eye closure so would need to change that to a zip or buttons. I'd probably knit in a larger than figure hugging size as well. Even if I don't choose this one, I think I've definately settled on a 4-ply lace cardi, so now I just need to SHOP for yarn!

I'm liking Knitpicks gloss, but I'll need to find out the yardage and study someone's colour card. Do I go black to go with everything and good for work? (Can I handle knitting lace in black) The purple looks yummy on screen and the dusk might be nice too. I really like the look of pumpkin and sage but they are colours I don't really wear so won't go with anything else I have.

Oh the big decisions in life.

Lovin' Jo Sharp, So Hot Right Now!! haha

So when Cathy said she loved Jo Sharp patterns for their classic look, I was not so sure.. I'd seen some of her patterns online and thought, personally, for me, they were a little blah.. but alas I was wrong.. I have purchased her new pattern book Knit #3 and the patterns are so lovely..The intarsia fitted jumper above will be my first colourwork/intarsia project I think (later on this year though, not now - must.finish.other.projects!!!!) Currently I am knitting this cardigan you see below, but a longer version of it which means more & more k1,p1...but will be worth it in the end!! Only started on Saturday and have done 15cm ribbing so far.. I'm going to make the sleeves full lenth too.

Kintted gifts

Well I can say that my first knitted gift was warmly received. The purple hat and scarf (with beading knitted in) was given to my niece this morning for her 2nd birthday and she likes them. More importantly, her mum and dad like them as well, thanks to their machine wash-ability. Slack of me I know but I forgot to take a photo of her wearing them - having said that it was a little too warm today in the park for her to be wearing a winter hat and scarf!

Other projects:
Im half way through my first pair of baby booties (read have finished 1 booty). Not sure who they will be for at this stage, who ever has the first boy I guess since they are blues and greens.
I have also finally figured out how to knit my socks right side out!
The blanket is going nicely, it is still manageable as bus knitting and Im getting an average of 2 rows per trip (ie about 4 rows a day). Since I only catch the bus 3 days per week I should really start doing a little more on it. Perhaps when I finish my socks!

Well see you all tomorrow night.

Must be some expensive sock yarn

last time I saw, this yarn wasn't this expensive....$310 list price?
