I think it would be a matter of stitch variations to replicate the patterning on the carpet - a bit like basketweave blocks - knit and purl. It would be a matter of selecting the stitch patterns that fitted the best to simulate the patterns.
i think i would need a closer pic of the carpet. it is nice tho
