My Grandma's Shawl

I have finished and gifted my Grandma's shawl that I was working on last week at stitch'n'bitch. She loved it and couldnt believe how warm it was. The pattern is the Invisible Stripe Scarf (invisible stripe scarf ) from lupinbunny's blog. I cast on 60 stitches and used 2 balls of Grignasco Champgne so that Grandma can wear it either as a scarf or a shawl.

This is being organised by Ruth's Zonta group. The house it's at is really really amazing with a really really amazing garden - and they have pet alpacas (well they did in February, I'm pretty sure I saw some there).

I'm definately going - let me know tonight you'd like to come too (I'm thinking sunny day, knitting on picnic blankets). Kids are definately welcome and there's lots of space to play in. Mum can bring tickets next week but needs to know if there's interest.

Charity Knitting over (for now)

Thank you to everyone who donated yarn! I haven't actually used every piece of it for this knit along but I figure that since I have it I can do charity knitting between projects. It also means when I don't have anything easy to knit on the bus I can do a square or a hat for charity.

In total I sent 1 blanket square, 4 scarves and 2 hats to the ANZ knit along for charity. I'm pleased to say that ANZ are going to match the funds raised from the sale of our items dollar for dollar. One of my scarves sold while they were setting up the stalls for $25 so with the ANZ match it will be $50 which is 5 blankets (every $10 donation buys a blanket). Not bad for some bus knitting.

So what happened to the other squares you ask? There were 2 other squares knit from wool. I have sent these over to the Rebuilding Greensburg - block by block project. Why isn't blogger letting me title my posts today? It's like the field doesn't exist.

Anyway, my title would have been 'Out of the Closet', as a knitting blogger that is. I've decided to make use of the blog I had to set up to join here. If you want to read it... here it is! I'll still post here with all you lovely ladies, but thought I should save you the long rambles!

So I have now knit my first hat in the round...

but for some reason every time I photograph it, the colours change. It is the nice purple/green/mauve wool that KnitConvict made her felted slippers out of. I used the pattern out of Last Minute Knitted Gifts, Kym's Hats.

It has been sent off with some scarves and squares to the knit along for charity.

I'm now working on a boy/man's hat.

KNITTERS REPRAZENT!

If you come to ONE Stitch'n'Bitch ever, make it this Monday, so you can be recorded for all posterity as a Knitter Extraordinaire.

I just did an interview with a Real Life Reporter™ for a Real Life Publication™, and apparently Real Life Reporter™ did not think I was a bumbling idiot (will the miracles never cease?), so she is arranging a photographer to come down and get some shots. The perfect opportunity to wear your knits and wield your sticks with pride! I think we should make it a party. (We can pretend not to notice if someone spikes the punch... Uh, coffee. And I promise you have you all home by curfew).

It's a story for WA Newspaper's house news, but who knows where it will lead? World fame and glory? Nah, forget about that— but if it recruits more knitters, I'll be happy!

It would be great to see you all there, there are quite a few faces we haven't seen in a while so let's use it as an excuse for a reunion. Even if you've never made it to a Stitch'n'Bitch, now's a good opportunity. It'll be awesome!

In short: I WANT EVERYONE IN PERTH WHO CAN WIELD TWO STICKS AND SOME YARN TO COME TO EXOMOD THIS MONDAY!
