Caped crusaders

Since I'm not a sew-er, I'm asking around the group if anyone would be willing to sew together a commission for me. Superhero capes for my older two boys. I would buy the material and anything extra needed and pay for your time....any takers?

I would knit them capes but somehow, it ain't the same.

Happy New Year!

Lovely to see you all on Friday night. Thanks Secret Santa for my scrummy yarn! I've been looking through ravelry for the perfect lace pattern. I'm on a bit of a lace kick at the moment - on Saturday we went to Toodyay and I bought some black laceweight merino/silk yarn from the craft shop there. Not sure what I'll make... I have enough for Butterfly, but not sure if I want a black Butterfly dress! Probably make a stole and have flagged up a few patterns to help me choose.

For those of us that are hookers as well as knitters, there's a great site here with lots of different stitch patterns and edgings to help you design stuff. I'm looking at it to make something out of the tonne of orange yarn that I own.

I forgot to mention in my email.... Harp 'n' Craft this Saturday - 12 noon at the Art Gallery Cafe in James Street Mall. I will do another email before then promise! (it's a pain because I'm at home and the web version of my email is crappy)

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks

Hi everyone who was at our Chrissy Party last night. Thanks to Spiderknit and family for being the host, it was a great night.
I loved my secret santa gift, now I have to think of what to make with it!

Thank you Secret Santa!!

I love the Merino/Silk blend yarn you gave me. Can't wait to figure something to make out of it. And a special thanks to SpiderKnit for hosting at her lovely new home.

So Martha....

I love it when I get a chance to do something very Martha Stewarty.....I give you, Christmas cookies. A Martha sugar cookie recipe, with the added flavors of mint essence to the green ones and rum essence to the red ones, and the brown ones are chocolate. With the added danger bonus of the little silver balls which should give you heavy metal poisoning.

Christmas stuff

Here is my non-knitting-post for the day.

I have my new tree up and decorated and I have also made some cute snowflakes that are hanging from our air conditioning ducts.

Isn't it pretty!

As promised here are the photo's of the baby vest:

ANZ Knitters are at it again

Hi all,

I just got an email from one of the ANZ knitters that they are going to China in February to adopt a little girl and were looking to take some hats/scarves/gloves etc... over to leave behind. If anyone has any that they would like to donate bring them along in January and I will send them over to her. Or if you were looking for a little project to finish off those odd balls then this might be a way to do it too.

Silly hubby

So I was totally going to put up pictures of my latest FO and stash enhancements last night... but my Geek Husband, as he shall now be known because he is a big ol' geek, had other plans. He has invited guests for dinner tonight. Normally I would not have a problem with only having 1 nights notice but being sick last week and not having wrapped the pressies that were scattered through the lounge and dining area I kinda went into overdrive.
All gifts are now wrapped, the lounge looks like a lounge again, the dinning room still looks a little like a craft room but that wont take long to clear tonight when I get home. I also had to finish the gifts for the gang at work here cause that was actually last nights job and get some sleep *sigh*.
So hopefully I can actually get the photo's up here and on Ravelry tomorrow morning or tonight after our guests have gone. I'm on holidays until after new year once I knock off tonight!!!!!

For those of you that I don't see before Christmas - wishing you a great one, those of you who have nothing else on on Monday night I'll see you there.

How's this for an FO? Or the equivalent of 7 jumpers worth of wool.

Welcome Baby Patrick!!!

Michelle's latest FO, baby Patrick, came into the world at 2pm, Tuesday December 4, weighing a healthy 9lbs 3oz (how many skeins of wool is that equivalent to?!).

Mother and baby are both well, and expect to be home today. We should be getting some photos soon which I will post here as soon as I can.

CONGRATULATIONS MICHELLE AND BRIAN!!

Sorry for the delay in posting, as you all know the internet here is a bit hit and miss, and I couldn't log into blogger. D'oh!

New Knitty!

In case you haven't noticed - the winter Knitty is out!

Seems to be more patterns than usual this time, I haven't really looked at them yet. I kind of like that our seasons are wrong for Knitty, we actually get time to knit some of the winter stuff BEFORE winter (well, maybe)

Finished booties and new knitting basket

Yes, I finished the booties. A poor picture but you get the idea, working on the matching hat now.
Today I picked up this gorgeous knitting basket from the Midland Farmer's Market. Made in Ghana, it is called a Bolga Basket and is handweaved out of hand dried, twisted and dyed Elephant grass. It takes 3 days to complete a basket. The group that is selling these is called Azasou and claims to pay fair price for these baskets. You have to hope that the villagers get the majority of the money. I love it.

Still waiting for baby. Green elfin booties are finished! yay! so of course I decided I needed to cast on an elfin hat in the same yarn (with 3 days until the baby, right)....i think this is called nesting. I don't clean.
